Affiliate’s Ruined Reviews
Affiliate’s Ruined Reviews…. Boy this ones going to catch me some grief. I bet I,v written this article 100 times in my head. I just never really felt the need to share it until last night. I finally got the final straw phone call. ” Hey CR, I got a quick question for you. OK, go ahead. Well I’ve been doing like you told me to, you no do my research about plugins, themes and such and now I,m confused. All these reviews I Google seem to say the same things.
I then went on to explain to him that the reviews all seem to be written by the same people because the majority of the Googled articles were. You see ” its the
dirty little secrete called Affiliate Links.” Now affiliate by itself is wonderful ie: ” to closely connect (something or yourself) with or to something (such as a program or organization) as a member or partner ” but affiliate plus marketing has become a glorious mess when combined with Google Search.
Before I,m throw off the internet and banned forever from Google let me explain my humble opinion. Lets start with Affiliate Links or Affiliate Marketing as per Wikipedia ” Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization (SEO), paid search engine marketing (PPC – Pay Per Click), e-mail marketing, content marketing and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner. ” Now all that’s good right up until the last sentence ” On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner. ” Here’s were we get to the written by the same people question, the answer is, they do sound alike because they are written by the same people. The people or company that wants you to try or buy their service or product. Now that I,v totally confused ya, let me explain. The words you read on the review article are written by the service or product company and then posted along with their service product on said companies website. The problems comes about by the hundreds of “a hum” entrepreneurs that have figured out how to get rich on the internet ( in 30 days or less please ). They get themselves a domain name, throw together an expert website Yeah Right, add some so called reviews ( now listen closely ) with copy and pasted glowing paragraphs of text about said reviewed service or product and then sit back and wait for the money to roll in. But wait you say, the reviewers are not selling anything, were does the money come from. Aaa Haa AFFILIATE LINKS.
Briefly affiliate links are links inserted into a
article er pretend review of the service or product that when clicked on take you to the companies website, were the hope is you will purchase said service or product. When the transaction is completed and the company is paid a waiting period is passed the affiliate is payed a commission for leading you to the sale. To be fair affiliate marketing is a current day version of what us old guys used to use word of mouth or referral marketing. OK I no you kids are saying here we go back in the day ( wow I got old guys back in the day and you kids in two sentences ) in some universe I’d get points for that, unfortunately not in this one. But really some how referral and affiliate have become meshed melded or tied up together into some perverted mess.
Bottom line learn a little bit about buying ranking on Google search with ad words, look a little further than the first 2 pages of your google search findings, check out the companies website, if the so called review sounds a lot like a companies ad for there service product it probably is. Its a shame these er entrepreneurs do not own or use the service product and most don,t even take the time to try and write an honest review. Take the time, there are honest reviewers out there although they are harder to find thanks to the unethical use of affiliate links.
Thanks for Listening
